Sensible Drinking

Recommended Intake levels:

Are set by individual health departments in different countries, the level indicated in this blog will be the limits set out by the UK Government

Units of Alcohol:

A unit of alcohol can be explained as the % ABV (Alcohol by Volume) per litre - so a 1 litre bottle of a 5% ABV cider is 5 units, half of that same bottle would be 2.5 units. The calculations get a little tricky with 440ml cans and 586ml bottles, but nothing that can't be solved with a calculator.

Consequences  of exceeding recommended limits:

Excessive drinking can have far-reaching consequences in terms of physical, mental and relationship issues. There are few organs in the body that will not be affected by excessive drinking, and a range of cancers that may occur.
